Following the rumors of the imminent departure of Hoops center back Kristoffer Ajer, Neil Lennon has been on the lookout for a replacement. The club scouts have been monitoring quite a few numbers of players across Europe as they spread their search tentacles in Italy.

Reports have it that Celtic are monitoring the progress Hellas Verona center back Pawel Dawidowicz with the Polish international valued at £1.4m with some level of experience in the Serie A top flight.

The transfer window, however, has been scheduled for resumption next week but a return date for Scottish football hasn’t been fixed, and it seems highly unlikely if Celtic will bring in new faces to the club.

The 25-year-old defender has 14 appearances with a goal to his name in the Serie A  this season as the league currently prepares to return to footballing action on the 20th of June.

Celtic are also set to be short of personal at the back with Jozo Simunovic set to leave the club, which leaves Lennon with the only two senior center backs [Christopher Jullien and Kris Ajer] with sufficient experience.

If Celtic should eventually get their man, it will shore up their shortage of personnel at the back. His versatility has made him useful in the central midfield department, which is suitable for him as a player and the club and also gets him more opportunities.

Celtic have already been crowned champions of the SPFL as the Scottish league is yet to reopen.
