Scott Sinclair says he is thriving on the confidence given to him by Brendan Rodgers since joining Celtic in the summer.

The winger previously worked with the Northern Irishman at Chelsea and Swansea but has spent the last few years treading water following a big-money move to Manchester City in 2012.

Mixed spells at West Brom and Aston Villa looked to have put his career on the rails but he has been excellent since joining the Bhoys.

His second-half penalty in Saturday’s 6-1 win over Kilmarnock meant he broke a club record of scoring six goals in six straight league games.

Sinclair will have a chance to take on some familiar faces on Wednesday when City visit Parkhead in the Champions League.

Having lost 7-0 to Barcelona in their opening group stage fixture, Celtic will be hoping to get their campaign back on track by securing a famous win against the Citizens, who themselves have won all 10 games they have played so far this season.

The 27-year-old will be desperate to make an impact and show his former employers what they failed to coax out of him.

Sinclair admits he is enjoying his football again and has credited Rodgers’ man-management as the key to his resurgence.

“On a personal level, it’s about me getting back to enjoying football and that’s exactly what I’m doing,” he told BBC Scotland. “I’ve got a manager who believes in me and gets the best out of me.”

Celtic are 8.00 to cause an upset on Wednesday, with the draw 5.25 and City the clear 1.33 favourites for the victory.
