Scott Brown has praised the influence new manager Brendan Rodgers has had on the Celtic squad and, in particular, the midfielder’s own game.

Former Liverpool boss Rodgers took over at Celtic Park this summer following the sacking of Ronny Deila, who stepped down after clinching the Scottish Premiership for a second time.

The Northern Irishman has come in and installed his own style of football and the benefits have already been reaped in these early stages of the season.

A 5-1 thrashing of fierce rivals Rangers in September is one of the high points and the Bhoys, who are undefeated from their seven league matches, are four points clear at the top with a game in hand.

However, it has not all gone to plan for Celtic and they were handed a lesson by Barcelona in the Champions League group stage, suffering a 7-0 loss at the Camp Nou.

Rodgers’ men did record an entertaining 3-3 draw against Manchester City in the second group match and Brown, who has been in sparkling form, insists the manager has had a huge impact.

“I’m learning from the manager and his tactical discipline, rather than just running about and tackling people,” he told reporters.

“From this season to last season it has been night and day for everyone and to get a good pre-season under my belt has been the main thing.”

Brown scored the winner in Saturday’s 1-0 away victory over Dundee and the league leaders, who are 1.04 to retain the title, will be looking to keep the form going when they return to action on October 15.

Celtic play host to Motherwell and the home side are 1.15 favourites to clinch all three points, a draw is priced at 7.00 while the visitors are 17.00 outsiders.
