Spain international Santi Cazorla says he is more than happy to stay at Arsenal beyond the end of the season although he revealed contract talks are yet to begin.

Cazorla, who arrived at the Emirates in 2012 from Malaga, has been a key fixture in the first team since arriving, making 128 Premier League appearances and scoring 25 goals.

However, the experienced midfielder struggled with injuries last season and he featured just 15 times in the league due to a long-term Achilles problem.

The 31-year-old is back to full fitness now and the performances have been impressive so far this term, having scored in the victories over Watford and Southampton.

Arsenal picked up what could be a crucial three points away at Burnley on Sunday, albeit controversially with Laurent Koscielny handballing into the back of the net, and the Gunners are priced at 8.00 to win the title.

Cazorla is hoping to play a big part in the club’s challenge for league glory whilst thoughts of being handed an extension are also on his mind.

His current deal expires at the end of the campaign and negotiations are yet to get underway regarding a potential new contract for the midfielder.

The Spaniard has made it clear he would like to remain at the Emirates in the future and he would welcome the chance to discuss new terms. “I hope to continue playing and staying here is an option.

My attention is now focused on playing and being able to enjoy playing football after a season that had a lot of injury problems,” Cazorla said. “I am very happy here. The club has treated me very well.

I am at a great club and I am playing minutes, which is what I want. If I wasn’t playing, then I’d consider leaving, but now I’m playing in a big club.”
