Francesco Guidolin has become the first Premier League managerial casualty of the season after he was sacked by Swansea City following their poor run of results.

Guidolin, who only signed a two-year contract in May this year after leading the club to safety in the previous campaign, had picked up just one victory from the opening seven league games.

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Liverpool was the fifth loss this term and that proved to be the final straw for the owners, who had flown in specially to see the team in action at the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans have made their worst start to a season for 25 years, having taken just four points so far, and they are sitting just one position above the relegation zone.

Guidolin’s reign is now over and the Welsh outfit have moved quickly to appoint a successor, with former United States boss Bob Bradley taking charge.

The 58-year-old, who was on a list of candidates that included Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, is said to have impressed the owners with his experience, having managed 10 different sides.

Bradley now becomes the first American to take charge of an English top flight team and his debut will come away at Arsenal on October 15.

The Gunners, who controversially defeated Burnley 1-0 on Sunday, are firm 1.25 favourites to pick up three points, a draw is priced at 5.50 while the visitors are the massive 11.00 outsiders.

One positive for the new man in charge is the fact the performances under Guidolin have had major promise and Swansea were unlucky not to grab a share of the spoils against Liverpool.

The Welsh club are fourth favourites to get relegated at 3.00 with Burnley shortest odds at 1.67 to go straight back down to the Championship.
