Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina plays down rumors of him returning to Barcelona.

The Spaniard started his career at Camp Nou but went to Villarreal in 2002. He is said to be Tito Vilanova’s top man to replace Victor Valdes for the new 2013-14 season.

Barcelona’s current number one keeper has confirmed that he will not sign an extension with the La Liga champions and is looking for a new challenge after spending his whole professional life with the club.

This has sparked news about a possible return of Reina to Spain, but the 30-year-old revealed that he is happy with his life at Anfield.

“I have three more years with Liverpool. I’m satisfied, comfortable and my family are very happy,” the goalkeeper revealed.

“I don’t know if there has been contact between the clubs or with my agent. At the moment I don’t think there’s anything serious.”

However, Reina claims he does not have any ill feelings toward the Catalan club, despite being sold early in his career.

“The years I was at Barcelona were very good, I don’t have any bad feelings about not succeeding there. I played more than 50 games when I was less than 20 – it helped me grow a lot,” Reina continued.
