Tony Pulis and Stoke City have officially parted ways.

News broke at the end of the 2012-13 season on Tuesday, and the club has announced it in a statement.

This ends a seven-year stay at Britannia Stadium.

“Stoke City and Tony Pulis confirm that they have mutually agreed that Tony will leave the Club with immediate effect,” the club confirmed on their website.

Fans of the club have prepared themselves for this news, as speculations over Pulis’ future have been rife for several weeks.

He helped the team get into the Premier League in 2008, and has helped them reach the FA Cup final and the round of 32 in the UEFA Europa League in 2012.

However, criticism over his preferred style of play, consisting of arguably dirty tactics and decisions, have been questioned and connected to the club’s dipping form on the pitch.

This year, they only managed to win nine games and scored the lowest number of goals. In 2013, they only managed to win one of their first 13 matches.
