Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti feels his side are still in contention to win the La Liga crown after a last-gasp Cristiano Ronaldo strike secured a draw at Valencia on Sunday.

Los Blancos are currently third in the Spanish table and five points adrift of leaders Atletico Madrid who have played a game more.

Atletico slumped to a surprise defeat at Levante on Sunday while second-placed Barcelona were held to a draw by Getafe on Saturday.

Real were seemingly heading for a damaging defeat at the Mestalla on Sunday but an audacious injury-time back-heeled volley from Ronaldo ensured the points were shared and Ancelotti has heaped the praise on the Portuguese star.

“Ronaldo’s goal is very important because losing this game would have meant that we lost the league,” Ancelotti told reporters after the game.

“Like I’ve said before, the league will be decided in the last game. It was a tough week for all the three teams.

“The team started the match well but it became more difficult to play with the same intensity. We lost a good chance to advance in the league but it’s not over yet.”

Real face Valladolid, Celta Vigo and Espanyol in their remaining La Liga fixtures and they still have a chance to take the La Liga title as Atletico Madrid travel to Barcelona in the final round of fixtures.

Real can be backed at 1.18 to win at Valladolid on Wednesday, the draw is 6.80 and Valladolid are 9.48 to claim all three points.
