New Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores admits he wants his passion for the job to be felt by the fans and the players alike.

The 50-year-old has filled the void left by the departure of Slavisa Jokanovic, who guided the Hornets into the Premier League last season but then left the club after failing to agree a new deal.

The well-travelled former Chelsea midfielder was the fourth manager to take charge at Vicarage Road last season but still managed to secure automatic promotion from the Championship.

Sanchez Flores is now the man charged with the task of keeping the Hertfordshire outfit in the Premier League.

He is likely to need every ounce of the experience he has picked up following stints with Valencia, Benfica and Atletico Madrid earlier in his coaching career.

“I was reading about Watford and their history, which is very important to know when you join a new club. I know they have big stories,” Sanchez Flores told the club’s website.

“I know about people like Elton John and what he did years ago and Watford have had important players like John Barnes playing at this club as well.

“So it is special to come here and to go into the Premier League, I know that. I feel a passion for my work and I want that to transmit to the fans and players.

“For me the most important thing is the sensation you transmit to the fans, you must connect with the people from Watford and the players.

“I always want to improve and create something special on the pitch. The idea is to create a team the fans can connect with.”

Watford are 1.67 to be relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 season.
