Midfielder Christian Eriksen will reportedly sit down with Tottenham officials in the coming days to try and sort out is future, with time running out to find a new club.

The 27-year-old hinted earlier in the summer that he was keen to try his luck elsewhere and was linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid. However, nothing has happened on that front and it seems as though Los Blancos have turned their attention elsewhere.

The Premier League transfer window has now closed and so the Denmark international’s options have narrowed, although both Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and Italian champions Juventus have been mentioned as possible destinations.

The former Ajax midfielder came on as a 64th-minute substitute as Spurs beat Aston Villa 3-1 in their season opener but he and the north London outfit will want a decision on his future made as soon as possible so he can just concentrate on playing football.

Talks are said to be planned to try and solve the situation, with the European transfer window open until early September. Eriksen has maintained his professionalism throughout the saga and will doubtless be involved as Mauricio Pochettino’s men travel to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to take on Premier League champions Manchester City.

Dafabet make Spurs an 8.50 chance to take all three points from the weekend’s clash while Pep Guardiola’s treble-winners are on offer at 1.36 to make it two wins from two as they continue the defence of their title.

Pochettino may opt to start Eriksen on the bench once again but Spurs fans will be hoping they see him in the starting line-up sooner rather than later.
