Romelu Lukaku has described his Premier League debut for Manchester United as a ‘dream’ after he netted a brace in their 4-0 victory over West Ham on Sunday.
The Belgium international struck either side of half-time as the Red Devils turned on the style at Old Trafford to move to the top of the Premier League standings after the opening round of fixtures.
The 24-year-old, who completed his big-money move to United from Everton earlier in the summer, was understandably delighted with his performance against the Hammers, although he insists the most important thing was securing the three points.
“Yes of course [it was a dream debut],” the striker told Sky Sports.
To play in front of such a crowd for such a great club, it is a dream come true but the most important thing was the win.
“The win was good with four goals and a clean sheet. We started very well so we have to keep working hard.”
Lukaku is refusing to get too carried away, however, as he knows the hard work is just beginning if United want to enjoy a successful season both domestically and in Europe.
“It is just the start and we need to keep working,” he added.
“The manager has said that there is a plan and we need to try and follow it and hopefully it will take us somewhere.”
United are next in action when they travel to the Liberty Stadium Stadium to take on Swansea on Saturday and they are priced at 1.40 to win that match, while the Swans are available at 8.00 and the draw is on offer at 4.50.
