Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho insists he will continue to do everything he can to win more silverware after extending his contract at the club.

The Red Devils and Mourinho opened talked earlier this month and they confirmed on Thursday that he had penned a new deal at Old Trafford.

Mourinho has signed until at least the summer of 2020, with the option of a further year.

The former Real Madrid coach won the EFL Cup and Europa League during his first season at the club and he is hoping for further success this season.

Although they were knocked out of the EFL Cup this year by Bristol City, they are still in the FA Cup and Champions League and you can back them to go all the way in Europe at odds of 15.00.

Mourinho had guided United into second in the Premier League table and he is predicting a bright future for the club under his stewardship.

“I am really honoured and proud to be Manchester United manager. I would like to say a big thank you to the owners and to Mr Woodward for the recognition of my hard work and dedication,” Mourinho told the club’s official website.

“I am delighted they feel and trust that I am the right manager for this great club for the foreseeable future.

We have set very high standards – winning three trophies in one season – but those are the standards I expect my teams to aim for.

“We are creating the conditions for a brilliant and successful future for Manchester United.”
