Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to overhaul his Manchester United squad this summer and Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez is the latest name linked with the club.

Following a dismal season which saw Solskjaer replace Jose Mourinho in the Old Trafford dugout, United bosses have handed the Norwegian tactician funds to try and put things right.

The former Red Devils striker has already secured the services of Swansea City’s Daniel James while Crystal Palace starlet Aaron Wan-Bissaka appears to be on the verge of a switch to the north west. It seems obvious that there is a shift of focus to younger players after recent recruitment focused on bring in tried and tested stars, with little positive effect on proceedings.

James is by no means a spring chicken as he will turn 28 next month, but he certainly has the desire and drive to be a force at United, having previously stated that he would love to join the club. A two-year loan stint at Bayern Munich has come to an end and it seems as though he is in limbo at the Bernabeu.

The Colombia international winger would provide yet more pace to the attacking ranks and there is a sense that the world has yet to see the best of James. He bagged 15 goals from 67 appearances in all competitions for the Bavarians but could be another player to excite the fans after the dour Mourinho stint.

Napoli are also thought to be keen on the South America and may rival the Premier League giants for his signature but the fact he seems keen on United may will tip the balance in their favour.

Solskjaer’s side can be backed at 23.00 to win the Premier League and the Scandinavian has already stated that his team are not contenders to win the league next term.
