Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is confident his team have more in their locker, despite making their joint-best start to a Premier League campaign.

With the last international break of 2018 behind them, Liverpool have plenty to focus on as thy head it the depths of winter.

The Reds are second in the table after 12 games and they sit just two points behind defending champions Manchester City.

Liverpool have not won a trophy since 2012 and Klopp is under pressure to deliver more silverware this season, especially after spending big in the last 18 months.

The German insists his squad have made giant strides since last season but says they will need to improve further if they are to dethrone City.

He told reporters at a gala dinner: “We can improve… we have to and we will. But between our best football and now, we have to win football games. That’s how it is and that’s what we’ve done already.

“There’s absolutely no reason for criticising the boys, they do a really good job. So many things are better than last year: defending is better, set-pieces are better; we are much more mature in games, game management is better. So many things are better.”

Liverpool are next in action on Saturday when they travel to London to take on Watford. The Hornets are 6.00 to win, while Liverpool are as short as 1.53 to pick up the three points.

Forward Mohamed Salah has found his form in recent weeks and the Egypt international is 4.00 to score first at Vicarage Road.
