Burnley striker Sam Vokes insists his team need to focus on themselves ahead of their clash against Newcastle United as they try to move away from the relegation zone.
The Clarets have struggled to find any consistency this season and they are without a win in five matches in the Premier League.
Three defeats in recent weeks has seen Burnley drop down to 15th in the league table and they are now level on points with 18th-placed Cardiff City.
Sean Dyche’s men will welcome Newcastle to Turf Moor on Monday and Vokes insists his team need to get their act together before they get dragged into a relegation scrap.
He told the Burnley Express: “It’s another big one for us. It will be good to get back to the Turf after two away games.
It’s a big game against Newcastle, we know it’s a big test for us but it’s one we’ll look to take to them and look to get three points.
“It never gets easier. It’s all about concentrating on ourselves. As for big games there’s none bigger than Newcastle because that’s the next one. We’ll look to take the points and pull away from them.
“We’ve been disappointed in some of our performances recently, and results – against some top-quality sides don’t get me wrong. But in bits [against West Ham United and Leicester City] it felt like we were back to ourselves.”
Burnley are 2.88 to pick up all three points, while the draw is 3.10 and Newcastle are 2.70 favourites.
