Jurgen Klopp believes it could be the start of something special for Liverpool after seeing his side book their place in the top four on Sunday.

The Reds have been in and around the Champions League places all season and after a few nervy moments early on at Anfield, cruised to a 3-0 win over Middlesbrough to book their return to European football’s top table.

It is now up to Klopp and the hierarchy to work hard in the transfer window to bring the required talent in to help the club take the next step, having struggled to juggle matters last time they were in the Champions League.

The German arrived on Merseyside in October 2015 with a big reputation and just like at Borussia Dortmund, appears to slowly but surely to be building a strong squad.

Speaking after Sunday’s triumph, the 49-year-old hailed his team’s achievement and believes they now have to put themselves in a position to move up to the next level.

“We are Liverpool. We have to deliver,” he told Sky Sports. “We did it again. We have to improve and we will but for now, today, it is a big relief.

“A club like Liverpool needs to be in the Champions League. Other clubs have the same target so it is not easy to be there consistently.

I am proud of the boys, we worked a lot and everything is good. Now we have to build on it.”

Liverpool are priced at 9.00 to win the Premier League in 2017/18, with Manchester City the 3.25 favourites for success.
