Leicester boss Claude Puel has urged his side to maintain their “good mentality” as they look to move away from the possibility of being dragged into the relegation dogfight.

Riyad Mahrez 97th minute strike sealed a 1-1 draw at home to Bournemouth on Saturday, in the process maintaining their place in eighth in the Premier League.

That helped keep their cushion over those below them but they still have work to do to guarantee their place in the top flight, having not won any of their last five outings.

The pressure has started to come on Puel but the players remain committed and will expect to break their run away at bottom club West Brom on Saturday.

An away win at The Hawthorns is 2.60, with the draw 3.20 and the Baggies 2.88 to get the victory that is likely to be needed to save Alan Pardew’s job.

Puel admits his team have struggled to find their form in recent weeks but feels the signs are good after sticking to their task against the Cherries.

He has now challenged Leicester to channel their energy into their remaining games as they look to retain their place in the top half of the table.

He said: “All the games are difficult but now we need to keep this good mentality and momentum, and to bring our other qualities and spirit.

“Sometimes we are not clinical and sometimes unlucky, but it is not possible to stay with all these chances without winning a game in the next fixtures.”
