Richarlison has given short shrift to rumours that he is set to quit Everton and move to Merseyside rivals Liverpool in the summer.

The 21-year-old joined the Toffees last summer in a deal that could rise to £50m – a huge sum for a player who scored just five Premier League goals from 38 appearances for Watford last season.

Goodison Park boss Marco Silva clearly saw something in the Brazil international when in charge of the Hornets for a brief period and persuaded Everton chiefs to spend big on the youngster.

It seems to be money well spent as the South American has bagged 13 goals from 35 appearances in all competitions for the Blues to help them to 10th in the top-flight standings.

However, UOL Esporte claimed Richarlison’s agent, Renato Velasco, recently visited Liverpool chief Jurgen Klopp’s home, with the subject of the talented forward high on the agenda.

It would be a huge kick in the teeth for the blue half of the city if Richarlison did jump ship but he took to Twitter on Thursday night to reassure Everton fans.

“I’m happy,” he posted alongside two pictures of him celebrating in an Everton shirt. It remains to be seen what transpires but he will have to put it out of his mind for this weekend’s clash against Arsenal, with Silva set to welcome the in-form Gunners to the north west on Sunday.

Everton are 3.10 to claim the spoils, with Unai Emery’s men on offer at 2.30 and the draw priced at 3.50.
