Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin believes the squad must “take confidence” from Wednesday’s 2-0 loss at the hands of Manchester City.

The Toffees have been on a downward spiral over the last few months and were unable to return to winning ways at home to City.

Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel Jesus netted in additional time in either half to take the Citizens back to the top of the Premier League table.

Despite coming away from the clash without anything to show for their efforts, Calvert-Lewin was buoyed by the overall performance.

He said: “Everyone to a man put in a good shift. We dug in and gave it our all.

“We played to our strengths, we put the ball in behind when we needed to. Also, there was me, Tom [Davies] and Jonjoe [Kenny] in the team. All young lads who love playing together.”

Everton can be backed at 3.10 to win on Saturday when they travel to Watford, who are priced at 2.30, with the draw available at 3.50.

Calvert-Lewin believes the City performance will stand Everton in good stead for their trip to Vicarage Road.

He added: “We’ll take confidence from the performance and take that into Saturday. We will give our all again to win that game.

“We have to just focus on making sure we finish as high as we can. We know the quality we have in the team.”
