The Chelsea manager has suggested that his players need rest after the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton on Tuesday evening. The result has seen the Blues drop in the race for the Premier League title after losing by a single goal against Manchester City at the weekend.

They were 13 points behind Pep Guardiola’s team after the defeat on Saturday and needed to win at the Amex stadium to keep any touching distance possible.

Chelsea led in the first half through Hakim Ziyech in the 28th minute of the game off a Kante assist. Meanwhile, Adam Webster equalized on the hour mark to draw the seagulls level.

The goal means that Chelsea have managed to concede in all but two of their last 13 Premier League matches. Chelsea are now 12 points behind Manchester City, but Brighton now have six games unbeaten. However, after the game, Thomas Tuchel blamed Chelsea’s result and form of late on fatigue.

“We looked tired, and we are. It’s like this. We knew they were well prepared, had more time to prepare, and you saw at the end that the stadium celebrated like it was a victory. That is what you face. We tried everything, but you could see we were mentally and physically tired. We need some days off. The boys need some days off; there is no other solution.” Tuchel said.

The Blues have played seven games in all competitions in the last 21 days but has managed three league points in the last possible twelve. The German manager then said that his team had been physically and mentally drained.

Meanwhile, Burnley vs. Watford was postponed due to covid issues affecting the teams. On Wednesday, Leicester City will face Tottenham while Manchester United will play Brentford.
