Goalkeeper Nick Pope is set for a regular run in Burnley’s first team after manager Sean Dyche revealed Tom Heaton is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Heaton was named in goal for the fourth consecutive Premier League match this season in Sunday’s home clash against Crystal Palace but he only lasted 36 minutes after landing awkwardly on his left shoulder.

The captain required treatment on the pitch before being helped off by the medical team and Dyche revealed after the contest the keeper is expected to be out of action for some time.

He said: “It looks like a dislocated shoulder and if that is the case we are looking at months, not weeks.”

Pope, who arrived at Turf Moor last summer from Charlton Athletic, was brought on for his Premier League debut and he made some impressive saves to ensure the Clarets clinched a 1-0 victory.

A one-on-one with Belgium international Christian Benteke was arguably the best save the 25-year-old made and picking up a clean sheet on debut will provide a massive confidence boost.

The shot-stopper is now set for a long run in the first team, starting with a tricky trip to Anfield on Saturday to take on a Liverpool side smarting after their 5-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Burnley, who are 2.88 to get relegated, are the massive 11.00 favourites to pull off a shock win, a draw is priced at 6.00 whilst the Reds are firm 1.29 favourites.

New Zealander Chris Wood grabbed his second goal since joining the Clarets this summer for a club-record fee against the Eagles and he will be aiming to keep his impressive run going against Jurgen Klopp’s men.
