Chris Hughton accepts Brighton have a tough run of games on the horizon but he remains confident they will avoid the drop down to the Championship.

The Seagulls went down 3-2 at Crystal Palace over the weekend and are seven points clear of the bottom three. Albion host Tottenham on Tuesday and then take on Burnley (a), Manchester United (h), Manchester City (a) and Liverpool (a) in their remaining fixtures.

All of Brighton’s remaining opponents are in the top seven and Hughton is aware his side face a tough run in, but the manager is confident they can pick up enough points to retain their Premier League status.

“If you’re talking about confidence in staying up – we’ve always been confident. It’s a difficult period for us at this moment, but there’s enough in our game that gives us confidence that we can get results,” he told the club’s official website.

“It’s also a question of other teams [below them] getting results as well. What it will take, the points we’ll need and where we’ll got those points from, is not something which anyone could tell me.”

Brighton are 9.00 to be relegated and 7.00 to beat Spurs at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday. Tottenham are 1.50 to take all three points and a draw is available at 4.33.
