Bournemouth striker Josh King insists he wants to remain with the club next season amid recent reports suggesting that he is a wanted man.

The Norway international has been in fine form for the Cherries this season after he was called on to step in for injured first-choice striker Callum Wilson.

King boasts 16 Premier League goals to his name and his eye for goal has played a key role in helping Bournemouth retain their top-flight status for another season.

Reports claim that King is attracting interest from a number of different clubs, though, and it’s understood that promoted Newcastle are leading the race to sign him this summer.

Rafael Benitez has previously spoken of his admiration for the former Manchester United youth player and he could register an official interest in the summer as he prepares for life back in the Premier League.

However, it looks unlikely that the Magpies will get their target with King insisting his full focus is on starting the 2017-18 campaign as a firm fixture at the Vitality Stadium.

King told the Daily Star: “I cannot wait for next season to start – I’ve enjoyed being here from day one.

Being noticed by other clubs is positive, but my focus is 100 per cent here.

“This is the first season where I have scored goals like this. Next year, I need to prove myself and do it all again.”

Bournemouth can be backed at 4.50 to win their final game of the season when they travel to Leicester, who are priced at 1.85, while the draw is available at 3.60.
