Petr Cech insists Arsenal will work tirelessly in their pursuit of the Premier League title and the goalkeeper feels Saturday’s win at Watford has got their season up and running.

Arsenal were under pressure going into the clash at Vicarage Road, having lost their opener 4-3 to Liverpool and then drawing 0-0 with defending champions Leicester City.

The Gunners managed to pick up their first win of the campaign after producing a stunning first-half display, with Santi Cazorla, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil all getting on the scoresheet.

Club-record signing Roberto Pereyra did manage to get a consolation for the Hornets on his debut but the visitors were able to see out victory to lift them to eighth in the table.

Cech, who is in his second season at the Emirates after joining from Chelsea last summer, is adamant league success is a major goal and says everyone at the club is working hard to try and make this a reality.

“We want to win the title and we want to challenge at the top of the Premier League,” he said. “There is no hiding from that.

Everybody else will do the same, so we will try to do our best.”

European aspirations will also undoubtedly be on Arsenal’s mind and they are 26.00 to win the Champions League after being drawn alongside French champions Paris Saint-Germain, Basel and Ludogorets Razgrad in Group A.

Wenger’s men have a league clash at home to Southampton on September 10 before Europe’s top club competition gets underway and the hosts are firm 1.57 favourites to get all three points.

The Saints, who are yet to win under new manager Claude Puel from three attempts, are 5.50 outsiders whilst the draw is priced at 4.00.
