Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has promised to find a solution to his side’s current form woes.

The Citizens have not won in their last five matches in all competitions and after being lauded for guiding them to 10 straights victories in his opening 10 competitive matches, the Spaniard already appears under pressure.

Much of the criticism has been aimed at his insistence on his team playing out from the back, with Southampton’s goal in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at the Etihad coming as a direct result of a misplaced back pass from John Stones.

Guardiola was forced to defend his methods last week after City’s 4-0 defeat to former club Barcelona and pointed to his exemplary trophy record as proof that his approach to the game works.

The Citizens did not leave the dressing room for some time after the Saints draw, with the 45-year-old subsequently confirming he and his squad had been discussing their current situation.

Having played at the top himself, Guardiola says he understands the issues he and his troops face and has vowed to turn their disappointing form around.

He said: “I was a football player and I know this can happen. You are able to win 10 times in a row and after you are not able to win five times.

That is part of football. You have to accept that. “I have to discover the reason why and I am going to find that.

I have to help the team achieve.” Despite their poor run, City remain top of the table on goal difference and are the 2.20 favourites to win the Premier League ahead of Liverpool who are 4.50 and Arsenal who are priced at 6.00.
