Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez insists he is happy at the club and is not seeking a move to a Premier League rival in January.

The Spaniard has been one of the few bright sparks for the Magpies so far this season, scoring three goals, despite his side sitting second from bottom in the table.

The 22-year-old’s fine performances have alerted the attention of a number of clubs, with the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United reportedly showing an interest in the former Spain under-21 international.

Such speculation does not interest Perez, however, as he insists that he is happy at St James’ Park and he is determined to continue his development in the north east.

He said: “I am happy here. I am playing and I am getting better. I cannot ask for anything else because I am happy here.”

Next up for Steve McClaren’s side is a home clash with Liverpool on Sunday and Perez will be keen to repeat what he did in the same fixture last season when he scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory for the Magpies.

The former Tenerife player has proved a good omen so far this season, as Newcastle have collected seven points in the three matches he has scored in against Chelsea, Norwich and Bournemouth.

Newcastle are outsiders at 5.25 to secure only their third league win of the campaign on Sunday, while Liverpool are available at 1.62 and the draw is 3.80.
