New Liverpool signing Georginio Wijnaldum says he will play wherever the manager wants him to this season if it means he can make a contribution to the team.

Wijnaldum left Newcastle United after just one year this summer to join Liverpool in a deal believed to be worth around the £25million mark.

The Holland international scored 11 Premier League goals last season but, despite featuring in every game and being one of the rare positives, he was unable to stop the club from being relegated to the Championship.

His exit from St James’ Park was widely expected and the attacking midfielder is looking forward to plying his trade for the Reds – a team he scored against in a 2-0 win back in December 2015.

The 25-year-old can play in a number of positions across the midfield and his versatility could come in handy for Jurgen Klopp, who likes his players to be flexible when needed.

Wijnaldum has no problem in being deployed in different places on the pitch and will do what the German tells him to do as he prepares for a new chapter in his career.

He said: “I can play in different positions and if I can do what I’m good at, score goals, show how good I can play football, then it’s OK with me.”

Liverpool have no European football this term and this could work in their favour in terms of mounting a fight for the Premier League title, with the club priced at 9.00 to lift the trophy.

Klopp’s men start their campaign away at Arsenal on August 14 and the visitors are 3.20 to get the win, a draw is priced at 3.30 while the Gunners are 2.25 favourites.
