Jose Mourinho has promised to make changes to his Chelsea side for the Champions League clash with Schalke and says it is crucial they bounce back quickly.
Chelsea had been on a fine run of form after picking up six consecutive wins in October but slipped up at the weekend when losing 2-0 at Newcastle.
The Blues are back on home soil against Schalke and Mourinho is demanding a response from his players as they look to recover from the loss at the weekend.
Chelsea lost their opening European group game at home to Basel but bounced back with wins at Steaua Bucharest and Schalke, and another win would put them in a strong position.
“We are in a stable position to qualify in the Champions League but if we lose again we are in a difficult position,” Mourinho revealed.
“So Wednesday is an important game for us.”
Meanwhile, Mourinho has promised changes from the side that lost to the Magpies, but says they will not be drastic.
“I will make changes. Not 11 changes because that would be too much, but changes for sure,” he added.
“I don’t know my best team because we have this kind of performance.
“I know basically which is my best team but it depends on the way we perform because performances and results push you for decisions.”
