Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata has once again distanced himself from rumours linking him with a move away from the club this month.

The highly-rated youngster has been touted for a January move to Arsenal or Tottenham, with reports in Spain suggesting a possible loan move.

Morata has only started one game for Madrid in La Liga but he is determined to stay and fight for his place in the team having scored in his side’s 5-0 win over Real Betis on Saturday.

Speaking after the victory, he told reporters: “I have spoken with Carlo Ancelotti [Real coach] and the situation is clear. After many rumours about my future I can confirm that I am happy in Real.

“The club considers that I am necessary for the team and I have decided to stay until the end of season.

“I play for the best club in the world and I am obliged to improve my work. This is my mission. In the summer? I do not know, we will have to talk.”

Madrid were impressive at the weekend and closed the gap on joint leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid who both drew on Sunday.

Barcelona were held 1-1 at Levante while Diego Simeone’s side also drew 1-1 against Sevilla at the Vicente Calderon.

The current La Liga champions are 1.73 to win the league title again, while Real Madrid are 2.70, with Simeone’s side at 7.50.
