Manager David Moyes says his side dropped two points against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday but the Scottish tactician is determined to take the positives into the next game.

Sunderland have endured a miserable start to their Premier League campaign and the pressure is already mounting on the shoulders of Moyes, who only took charge this summer.

Many thought Saturday’s clash against WBA at the Stadium of Light presented a good chance to pick up a first win of the season but it proved to be another frustrating afternoon.

The Black Cats went behind after Nacer Chadli found the back of the net with a cool finish and another defeat looked to be on the cards with time ticking away in the match.

England international Jermain Defoe passed up several opportunities throughout the contest and his performance is unlikely to earn a place in the squad for the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Jordan Pickford once again produced another solid display and kept the hosts in the clash after making a number of superb saves.

Finally, after some decent pressure, Patrick van Aanholt managed to find an equaliser late on and both sides ended up settling for a share of the spoils.

Moyes was a picture of frustration after the contest and he admits his players missed a fantastic opportunity to get their win tally up and running this term.

“It’s a disappointment because we need wins, but we’ll take something from this,” he said. “I’m glad we were able to give the supporters something.”

Sunderland, who are 1.67 to be relegated this season, are back in action on October 15 when they travel to fellow strugglers Stoke City after the international break.

The visitors are 3.50 outsiders to pick up all three points, a draw is priced at 3.40 while the Potters are 2.05 favourites to kickstart their campaign.
