Jackson Martinez’s agent denied rumours that his client has opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur.

Jackson Martinez’s agent has denied reports that his client has opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur and insists the Colombian is happy at Porto.

The striker arrived at the Estadio do Dragao last summer from Mexican side Jaguares de Chiapas and after netting 27 times in his first season in Europe, has proved to be yet another massive coup for the Portuguese club, who have a fine record of unearthing previously unknown South American talent.

However, like so many before him, including international team-mate Radamel Falcao, his form hasn’t gone unnoticed and with reports suggesting the north Londoners have made an offer in excess of £20million for the player, it looks likely that the Dragons could once again be persuaded to sell one of their prized assets.

The possible departure of Martinez would come as a big blow to Porto, who have already seen both Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez leave for Monaco in recent weeks.

However, despite the prospect of playing in the Premier League, the 26-year-old has always maintained that he would prefer to stay in Portugal as his family are settled in the country.

His agent Luis Manso has now reiterated his client’s wishes and insists that he hasn’t spoken to anyone at Tottenham about the possibility of Martinez moving to White Hart Lane.

“Jackson Martinez has always said he wants to stay at FC Porto and he does not have to leave,” Manso told Radio Renaiscenca. “He is happy and his family too, so I do not see the intention of the club to sell.

“We have not spoken to anyone and we are not interested in any negotiations. That’s the truth.”
