Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has dropped a further hint that Paul Pogba could return to the club this summer, after declaring he wants to sign one more player.

France international Pogba was on the books of the Red Devils as a youngster, but he was restricted to just a handful of first-team appearances before joining Juventus on a free transfer in the summer of 2012.

The 23-year-old has flourished in Turin, winning four-straight Serie A titles, but he has been consistently linked with a return to United this summer, with reports suggesting that the two clubs are close to agreeing a £100million fee for the midfielder.

United have already signed Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer, but Mourinho has said he wants to make one more acquisition before the new Premier League season begins, although he has refused to confirm whether Pogba is the player in question.

He said: “We are going to sign one more player, that’s for sure.

“I don’t want to speak about Paul Pogba because he is a Juventus player and I don’t like other managers speaking about my players. I don’t speak about their players.

“But the reality is we are going to sign one more player. The market closes on August 31, so we have plenty of time to do that, but obviously I would like to do it before the Premier League season starts.” The Red Devils will begin the new domestic season when they take on Premier League champions Leicester in the Community Shield on Sunday.

Mourinho’s men are on offer at 1.85 to win the match, while the Foxes are available at 4.20 and the draw is priced at 3.50.
