Antonio Valencia hopes Manchester United’s EFL Cup final success will spur them on to land further trophies this season.
The Old Trafford outfit beat Southampton 3-2 at Wembley last weekend to pick up the EFL Cup and Valencia now has his sights set on the FA Cup and Europa League.
United face Russia’s FC Rostov in the last 16 of the European competition and have been handed a tough FA Cup quarter-final clash at Chelsea.
Valencia insists his side haven’t given up on the Premier League just yet but, as they trail leaders Chelsea by 15 points, the Ecuadorian accepts the cup competitions are their most likely routes to further silverware this term.
“This is the mentality that we have – this trophy has given us much confidence,” he told ESPN. “We are thinking about these three trophies. I think we can do it.
We have to realise we are Manchester United and that we can go on to win these three trophies.
“We haven’t given up hope [in the Premier League] this year. We’ll still fight for the league this season, but if we can’t do it this year, then we go into next season and we will fight for the league.”
Manchester United are 3.40 to win at Chelsea in the last eight of the FA Cup on Monday, March 13. United are 2.88 to win the Europa League outright and 51.00 to claim the Premier League crown this season.
