Samir Nasri says he is hoping to sign a new deal with Manchester City and has set his sights on winning the Champions League with the club.

Nasri has been a virtual ever-present in Manuel Pellegrini’s side this season but he is due to fall out of contract at the end of next season, and City are keen to secure his future.

Nasri has also revealed he is very happy at the Etihad Stadium and is keen to commit his future by penning a new deal.

City officials have already made contact with his agent and the Frenchman hopes terms on a fresh contract can be hammered out sooner rather than later.

“Talks? I know they are planned,” he told L’Equipe. “The officials called my agent to tell him we have to talk. Then, we will see.

“The objective is to win the Champions League in a few years’ time.

“But when you are happy somewhere, I can’t see why you should have to change scene.”

City already have the Capital One Cup in the bag after Nasri helped them to a 3-1 win over Sunderland last weekend and they can book their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup with a win over Wigan.

City want revenge following the Cup Final defeat against Latics last season and are a short 1.17 to win at the Etihad Stadium, with Uwe Rosler’s men big outsiders at 12.78.

City can also go level on points with Chelsea at the top of the Premier League if they win their games in hand, but they face a tall order to go through in the Champions League as Barcelona hold a 2-0 last-16 first-leg lead.
