Manchester City midfielder Fernando believes the club are capable of winning the quadruple this season.

The Citizens booked their place in the final of the Capital One Cup last week with a 4-3 aggregate success against Everton, and they followed that triumph up with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday.

City will resume their Champions League campaign with the first leg of their last-16 tie with Dynamo Kyiv on February 24, and they remain in the Premier League title hunt heading into the business end of the campaign.

Brazilian Fernando knows it will be a tough task for Manuel Pellegrini’s side to win all four competitions, but he believes they are more than capable of achieving the unlikely feat.

Fernando said: “We have a great team and all the players are focused so I do believe we have a chance of winning all four trophies. We have to aim high and work towards that goal.”

City will have to improve their away form if they are to achieve their goals this season, as they have only won four of 11 matches on the road in the league this campaign.

Fernando knows that record is unlikely to win them the championship, and he insists the players are fully focused on improving their results away from the Etihad Stadium.

He added: “Every game in England is very tough but especially away because the opposition always comes in strong from the start. The focus for us will be to improve our away performance and come out with a victory.”

The Citizens are three points behind league leaders Leicester, but they are available at 2.25 to secure overall glory come the end of the season and win what would be their third league title in five seasons.
