Malaga held Borussia Dortmund to a 0-0 draw in Champions League quarterfinal.

Mario Gotze missed at least three opportunities to give the German outfit an away goal as Robert Lewandowski also misfired to help choach Manuel Pellegrini achieve their aim of not conceding a goal at home.

Dortmund performed better in the early stages, almost taking the lead in 14 minutes as Lewandowski found Gotze who then mistimed his kick and Willy Caballero did enough to push the ball away.

The German attacked again five minutes later but the Malaga keeper was up to the task, using his leg to stop the shot.

After being thwarted with shots, Malaga finally came into the game and tested Dortmund keeper Roman Weidenfeller.

Joaquin had a corner in the 43rd minutebut Weidenfeller scooped away Vitorino Antunes’ header.

After the intermission, Dortmund almost had another chance to finally take the lead. Lewandowski was not up to the task and missed from 12 yards out after Gotze’s attempt reflected into his path.

Malaga’s Isco had a fierce effory from the edge of the box but could not beat Weidenfeller, who handled it well to avoid any follow-ups.

More attempts came from both squads but nobody broke the deadlock and a decider will be played next week in Germany.
