Barcelona manager Luis Enrique was quick to praise his side after their hard-fought victory over title rivals Sevilla on Sunday evening.

Enrique’s men, 1.70 to win the La Liga title, fell behind in the 15th minute when Sevilla winger Vitolo finished off a fine counter attack with a cool finish.

Sevilla had looked to make it six wins in a row at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan but Barcelona found a way to win. Captain Lionel Messi scored the equaliser before assisting Luis Suarez for the winner just after the hour mark.

The victory means Barca move to within two points of league leaders Real Madrid after 11 matches and it comes at the perfect time just ahead of the international break.

Speaking after his side’s win, Enrique was quick to praise them for their never say die attitude. He told reporters: “Comeback victories strengthen us, especially when you get them at a team that’s unbeaten [at home].

“Now the players go away with their national teams and we hope they return unscathed. It was a beautiful game with both teams wanting to attack and take risks. “Our opponent got ahead of us but later we were able to solve the threat.

I was very pleased with the development of the game. We came back from conceding. We put in an excellent second half and we deserved to kill the game off earlier.”

After the international break, Barcelona will take on Malaga in the league before another clash with Celtic in the Champions League.

Further matches against Real Sociedad and Hercules follow before the ‘El Clasico’ tie with Real Madrid on December 3.
