Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel believes his side can make life hard for Arsenal on Saturday, as the Merseysiders look to close the gap on the Premier League leaders at Anfield.
The Reds were outplayed by the Gunners earlier in the campaign down in the capital, with the Londoners securing a 2-0 victory in front of their home fans.
Liverpool will be hoping the home comforts of Anfield will play into their hands as they prepare to face Arsenal in the pick of the weekend’s fixtures from the English top flight.
The Reds were held to a 1-1 draw in their last outing against West Brom but Skrtel feels the players have put that setback behind them as they look forward to welcoming Arsene Wenger’s men to Anfield.
He told the club’s official website: “I am confident we can beat Arsenal because we definitely have the strength to do so.
“They are the leaders at the moment but we can give them a hard time.
“It won’t be an easy game but I am sure we can do something in front of our fans.”
The lunch time kick-off on Merseyside is an opportunity for Arsenal to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to five points, even if it is just for a brief period before fellow title-chasers Chelsea and Manchester City are in action.
Favourites Liverpool are 2.10 to take the spoils on Saturday, while the Gunners are an attractive 3.43 to bag all three points.
