French Ligue 1 defending Champions and League leaders Paris Saint-Germain FC will have to do without the services of Brazilian forward Neymar da Silva Santos Junior who got injured during the international break.

Neymar picked up the injury during Brazil’s 1-1 draw against Nigeria in an international friendly match played in Singapore on Sunday 13th of October. The PSG star had to come off barely 12 minutes after the game started with a suspected hamstring complaint.

Initial assessment by the Brazilian medical team was that the injury wasn’t too serious. They are insisting that Neymar wasn’t experiencing any pain that he was taken off as a precautionary measure. However, tests by PSG have confirmed that indeed Neymar has sustained a hamstring injury and is set to be out of action for one month. This was confirmed in a statement by the French club on Monday after they conducted an MRI scan on the injured Brazilian.

This latest injury will be a setback for Neymar who was just hitting top form for the Parisians, after a troubled summer following speculation surrounding his purported return to Spanish giants FC Barcelona. PSG as well will be disappointed to have to cope without their star player until after the next international break in November.
The Brazilian had been in great form for Thomas Tuchel’s side, scoring 4 goals in the last five matches for the league leaders. It is almost also certain that Neymar will miss the Uefa Champions League group stage doubleheader against Club Brugge KV. The game against the Belgian side will come up on the 22nd of October and 6th of November respectively.

In other related but cheery news, Kylian Mbappe is set to return from an injury which had dogged the French man for a couple of weeks now. It’s still dicey whether he will be risked for Friday’s home league match against OGC Nice. The World Cup winner is however scheduled to return for the pivotal Champions League fixture away to Club Brugge next week Tuesday. This will come as welcome news for the young French star who according to the rumour mill, will soon be offered a fresh contract by the Parisians.
PSG’s next game is against 9th placed Nice on the 18th of October, 2019.

PSG are fancied at 1.47 to claim a victory, while opponents OGC Nice are set at 6.83.
