Philippe Coutinho’s future at Barcelona remains unclear after the midfielder gave a vague response when asked about where he will be plying his trade for the 2019/20 season.

Coutinho made what looked like a dream move in January 2018 when joining Barcelona from Liverpool in a deal worth an initial £105million, which could rise to £142m if various clauses are met.

However, the 27-year-old has struggled to settle at the Camp Nou and he came in for a lot of criticism from supporters last season, while club legends also questioned his performances.

The Brazil international, who has scored 13 goals from 52 La Liga appearances, has been linked with a summer move back to the Premier League with Chelsea and Liverpool said to be interested.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be keen and there are claims the attacking midfielder could be used as part of a swap deal that would see Neymar head back to the Catalans.

Speaking at the Copa America where he is playing with Brazil, Coutinho has done little to clear up his future and his comments will have kept potential suitors interested. He said: “I have a contract with Barcelona.

It was always my will to succeed in this club, but now I am totally concentrated here (with Brazil). Many things that come out in the media are simply not true but as for my future we do not know what is going to happen, that is the truth.”

Barcelona are 1.75 favourites to successfully defend their league title, while rivals Real Madrid are priced at 2.38.
