Gerard Pique thinks Neymar will remain with Barcelona but he does not know for certain if the forward will stick with the Catalan giants.
Pique posted a picture on Instagram captioned “he stays” but the defender has now revealed that is only his opinion, rather than a statement based on fact.
Paris Saint-Germain are ready to try and lure the Brazilian star away from the Nou Camp but Pique doesn’t think the forward will be tempted by a switch to the French capital.
“My Instagram post was a gut thing. I want Neymar to stay. [It’s my] Personal opinion from conversations I’ve had with him.
It’s my intuition,” he told reporters on Tuesday. “It was nothing official, it doesn’t depend on me.
Only Neymar can say what will happen, but I hope he stays. I try to explain to Neymar, as a team-mate and a friend, the situation he’s in.
I would say don’t go to a league which, with all due respect, is not as good.”
Neymar has a release clause of 222million euros in his deal with Barcelona and if PSG are to snare him this summer they will have to smash the world transfer record to do so, as Barca have no intention of accepting a lesser bid.
Barcelona are 1.95 to win La Liga outright in 2017-18, Real Madrid are the slight favourites at 1.91 and Atletico Madrid can be backed at 34.00.
