Blackburn captain Jason Lowe believes all the pressure will be on Aston Villa when the two sides go head-to-head at Villa Park in the Championship on Saturday.
Rovers will head into the contest second from bottom of the league standings after picking up just one win from their last six matches.
Villa have also struggled to find top form this season, parting ways with manager Roberto Di Matteo last month with the club languishing in 19th position in the table.
New boss Steve Bruce has seemingly steadied the ship since his appointment as manager however, guiding Villa to eight points from his four matches at the helm, as the Birmingham-based club bid to challenge for an immediate return to the Premier League.
Lowe believes the renewed expectation surrounding Villa could work in Blackburn’s favour on Saturday however, and he is confident his side can gain a positive result from the match.
“It’s obviously a big game,” the versatile midfielder said. “They’ll be up for it as the home team and they are looking to bounce back into the top league.
“The pressure will be on them a little bit, but we’ll go there and try and do what we’ve been doing, play our stuff that we know we can do, and I’m positive we can get a good result.”
Blackburn have failed to win any of their last four matches against Villa, with their last success in the fixture coming when both teams were in the Premier League in 2010.
The Blue and Whites are available at 5.50 to secure all three points on Saturday, while Villa are priced at 1.60 and the draw is on offer at 3.80.
