Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer feels striker Jordan Rhodes is the “best finisher” in the Championship after his brace in Saturday’s win over Charlton.

Rovers claimed a 3-0 win over the Addicks at Ewood Park as Rhodes grabbed the opening two goals, with substitute Tom Lawrence also finding the back of the net late on.

Rhodes was linked with a summer move to Middlesbrough but he seems to have put the transfer speculation behind him in recent weeks with four goals in his last three games and Bowyer was quick to praise the Scotland international after the club’s first league win of the season.

“We know that if we create the chances, we’ve got the best finisher in the league,” Bowyer is quoted as saying by the BBC.

“He could have been top goalscorer in the league after the last three games.”

He added: “That shows you how good he is because it doesn’t matter to him that he’s missed a couple of chances.

“His concentration levels, passion for the game and scoring goals – you won’t find anybody better. His scoring rate for the club is phenomenal.”

Blackburn moved up to 19th in the Championship table, with seven points from eight games to date, following their win over Charlton.

Blackburn are 21.00 to be promoted, while the Addicks are 51.00 to be return to the top-flight.

Middlesbrough are the 2.25 favourites to win the Championship outright, ahead of Brighton and Hove Albion at 7.00, and Derby County and Hull City at 9.00.
