New Manchester City signing Fernandinho has thanked the club for bringing him to England and claims they are one of the world’s best clubs.
The midfielder completed his £34million move last month from Shakhtar Donetsk and the 28-year-old waved his personal bonus in order to complete the deal.
Fernandinho showed his class last year in the Champions League and is well thought of around Europe.
The Brazilian was linked with a move to City for a number of weeks and admits he will need to adapt quickly if he is to succeed in England.
Despite his consistent performances on the domestic stage, Fernandinho is yet to impress for the Brazilian national team and he hopes his move to City will see him earn more caps.
He said: “In Ukraine, as well as in Brazil, Man City is now considered one of the best teams in the world and after I signed people back home in Brazil congratulated me for signing for one of the top teams in the world.
“I think that was very important for me and I want to repay the club for what they have done for me by playing well on the pitch and winning as many trophies as possible.
“In time, my performances will tell us. We will have to wait and see. My first aim is to play well for my club, Manchester City, and if I do I am sure that will come to the attention of the national manager.”
