Roberto Martinez of Everton is expected to try and tempt former club Swansea into selling star striker Wilfried Bony.

It would appear that Everton have resigned themselves to losing 11-goal striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer. The Chelsea loanee is expected to be sold by the Premier League leaders and the Belgian forward is thought to be only interested in joining other Champions League clubs, something that Everton are looking unlikely to achieve for next season.

With 10 league goals in 26 league appearances, Bony is a readymade replacement for Lukaku and one that should be easy to accommodate in the Toffees starting XI.

Swansea are unlikely to welcome any bid, but with Everton looking set to be able to offer the 25-year-old European football, albeit through the Europa League, the player may be tempted enough to try and force through a move.

If Bony has an impressive World Cup with the Ivory Coast, who are 2.08 to be the best African nation in the tournament, then it will not be just Everton trying to acquire the hit man, meaning Martinez may make a move before the competition gets underway this summer.

The Spanish manager is planning on keeping himself busy this summer as reports are starting to surface that he may look to bolster his squad with a move for countryman Javi Garcia.

The Manchester City midfielder has struggled to nail down a starting place at the Etihad Stadium and may jump at the chance of regular first team football.
