Roberto Martinez has taken great encouragement from striker Romelu Lukaku’s early season form and the Toffees boss is tipping the Belgian to keep scoring.

Lukaku has four goals under his belt already and will be hoping to get on the scoresheet at a former hunting ground when Everton visit West Brom on Monday evening.

According to Martinez, 22-year-old Lukaku benefitted greatly from an extended break this summer having been at the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.

“Rom has started the season really well, as has Ross (Barkley) and all the players that were involved in the World Cup. They had a really good break this time, were able to work with the team for a full pre-season and that allows a footballer to be ready,” the Spaniard declared.

Although Everton failed to register in their game at Swansea last weekend, Martinez was pleased with the performance and the number of chances his team created.

After their trip to the Hawthorns, Everton face Liverpool in the Merseyside derby then Manchester United and Arsenal. Martinez feels Lukaku can help them in a difficult run of fixtures.

“I’m very pleased with where he is and the next group of fixtures that he could have an impact on,” he said.

“We were disappointed we couldn’t score at Swansea but you look at the amount of chances he created and as a player that’s important – if he creates that number of chances he’ll have an incredible return in terms of goals.”

Lukaku is 6.50 to score first against West Brom at the Hawthorns and 2.80 to register at any stage against the Baggies. Everton are 2.40 to win the game.
