Everton have added Ecuador international Enner Valencia to their list of striking options after he joined the club on a season-long loan from West Ham United.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman tied up the deadline day deal with an option to make the move permanent next summer. Valencia is currently on international duty with Ecuador for World Cup qualifying games against Brazil and Peru and he will link up with Koeman and his new team-mates next week.

The 26-year-old has scored 16 goals in 29 games for his country, including three at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Valencia arrived at West Ham in the summer of 2014 following his World Cup exploits and had previously been top-scorer in Mexico in 2013/14 with 18 goals in 23 appearances for Pachuca.

The forward scored eight goals in 54 appearances for the Hammers although his second season in the East End was blighted by knee and ankle problems.

Everton also chased French international Moussa Sissoko on transfer deadline day, as a bid of £30m was lodged with Newcastle United for the midfielder.

However, the Toffees later withdrew this interest and the 27-year-old signed a five-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur instead. Meanwhile Aiden McGeady has left Everton for a season-long loan at Preston North End.

The 30-year-old Republic of Ireland international was told by Koeman that he had no future at Goodison Park this summer.

Having spent the second half of last season at Sheffield Wednesday, McGeady now links up with manager Simon Grayson at their Championship rivals Preston.

Everton are 10.00 to finish in the Premier League top four this season.
