Dynamo Kiev winger Jeremain Lens has confirmed he is in talks with Sunderland and is eager to move to the Stadium of Light in order to be reunited with boss Dick Advocaat again.

The Black Cats have been heavily linked with a move for the Netherlands international since Advocaat performed a u-turn on his decision to leave Wearside and signed a one-year contract with the club.

Lens and Advocaat have previously worked together at Eredivisie outfits PSV Eindhoven and AZ Alkmaar, the 27-year-old then leaving Holland in 2013 to join Dynamo.

The versatile forward now looks poised to move to Sunderland after the two clubs agreed a fee in the region of £9million, with Lens revealing talks are progressing between the parties.

“I’m not having a medical examination, but I am in talks with Sunderland,” he told foxsports.nl.

“I have never made a secret of the fact that I like the Premier League. Despite Dynamo playing in the Champions League, now it seems like a great opportunity to make the switch.

“We have previously worked well together at AZ and PSV. We know each other – that’s ideal. It’s not all there yet, but it should be clear that I am really keen on a transfer.”

Sunderland are also reported to be closing in on the signing of Belgium international Nicolas Lombaerts after agreeing a fee of £5million with Zenit St Petersburg.

Advocaat has already made two additions to his squad this summer, signing Celtic defender Adam Matthews and Sebastian Coates from Sunderland.

The Dutch tactician will hope a raft of new signings will help Sunderland avoid another relegation battle, with the Black Cats 2.75 to drop out of the Premier League this season.

Sunderland kick off their campaign against Leicester on August 8, a game they are 4.00 to win.
