Didier Drogba believes Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim is similar to former manager Jose Mourinho when comes to keeping players motivated for match.

The former Chelsea star played under the current Real Madrid manager between 2004 and 2007 at Stamford Bridge and insists that there are a lot of similarities between the two.

Galatasaray and Madrid will meet at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal tie on Wednesday.

“I have a lot of memories of him [Mourinho],” Drogba said.

“He’s always in the spotlight and he looks out for everyone. He tries to get the best out of every individual. Fatih Terim is like Mourinho in that respect. He’s close to the players.”

Drogba went on to share his early memory against Madrid, where he played for Marseille and scored in a 4-2 loss at the Bernabeu.

“The Bernabeu game will be very special for me. I played my first Champions League match there against the Madrid ‘galacticos’,” he said.

“I scored my first goal, even though we lost 4-2 – it was in the group stages of the 2003/04 campaign with Marseille. I’ll never forget that day. It was very important for my career.”
