Federico Fernandez has called for Swansea to build on the positive momentum surrounding the club by gaining victories in both league and cup this week.

The Swans have been in resurgent form since Carlos Carvalhal took over as manager in December, as they are unbeaten in seven matches in all competitions, a run that includes victories over Liverpool and Arsenal and a draw with Leicester in their last three Premier League games.

Argentina defender Fernandez headed the equaliser during the Welsh club’s draw with Leicester on Saturday and he has now called on his side to build on their impressive run by gaining two victories this week against Notts County in the FA Cup and Burnley in the league.

“We kept the positive performances going by getting a good draw at Leicester,” Fernandez told the club website.

“Now we move on to the next two games at home. First we want to get through in the cup and then we have another very important league game.”

Things have not been going completely smoothly for Swansea, however, as they lost both Leroy Fer and Wilfried Bony to season-ending injuries against Leicester.

Fernandez and co will be hoping those enforced absences will not derail the Swans’ season, particularly as they are only outside the Premier League relegation zone on goal difference.

Swansea have been in the top flight ever since they gained promotion back in 2011, but they are priced at 2.25 to be relegated come the end of the season.
